It seems that the page template has been switched to the default template, which has removed the slider from the page. Could you please try resetting the template settings manually on the homepage?
You can do this by selecting the "Default template" at the "Template" setting, then select "Front Page Slider" again and save the page.
In this case, the issue is being caused by an older version of the Essential Grid plugin, so updating it should resolve the problem.
You can do this by going to the Plugins tab in your dashboard, deactivating and deleting Essential Grid, and then reinstalling it via Appearance → Install Plugins.

Slider on home page disappeared, looked at article but its not very clear to me how and where to go to fix it.

I did that and it doesn't save its just goes back to default
