    I am trying to make the home page my static front page - typically this is available in appearance - I am not finding that option and it is defaulted so the home page is a blog

    Hi there,

    Thank you for your message.

    You can do this under Settings -> Reading by selecting the "A static page" setting and then you can choose the page you want to serve as homepage.
